CHINESE MOTHERBOARD IDENTIFY: DESKTOP series, SERVER RECOND series.

This mainboard in Chinese language also known as: 山寨芯片组主板 / 山寨主板 (Shānzhài xīnpiàn zǔ zhǔbǎn / Shānzhài zhǔbǎn) translated to: Shanzhai chipset motherboard / Shanzhai motherboard.

Usually old but "new" motherboard uses recycled chip from e-waste bins, because they are discontinued. The theory is that if that source is stopped, to e-waste bin it is.

If Intel ARK site says Marketed status: Launched, chances are chipset used are still new. IDK about AMD equivalent, as most reconditioned motherboard is Intel ones.

They also managed to adapt laptop/mobile CPU to desktop, examples are being:

  1. Fake pentiums, this was done in 90s with pentium mobiles.
  2. LGA 1151 "mutants" / "interposer" CPU like QNCT that requires BIOS modding for microcode addition.
  3. ERYING motherboards.
They also can adapt server CPU to work on desktop chipset in past (until intel stopped supporting Xeon in desktop in Skylake), examples:

  1. Socket mod 771-775, with a sticker and notching either the motherboard, or CPU, or maybe both.
  2. Intel Xeon Nocona (socket 604, SOLDERED) combined with g41 motherboard. The indication is that the fan is bolted in with 775 pattern, the ram is usually 1x ddr2 and 1x ddr3. Was sold in Indonesia, under name of Varro G41X-L. Kinda wasted potential, since socket 604 has 6 cores max.
  3. "X79/X99" using H61/H81 chipset.

Legend:

  • Blue: Prebuilt (ex servers, etc)
  • Red: Mobile.
  • Green: New (when written)

  • AM2 and AM3 likely to use N68, AMD 600, AMD 700
  • FM2 uses default (A88)
  • AM4 uses default as indicated, A320, B450, A520.
    • Problem is, how to get BIOS updates and microcode switching?

SERVER RECOND series

Intel: X58,X79,X99
  • Intel X58, likely to use 5500 or 5520.
  • Intel X79, likely to use, wait for it....
    • Refer to H61-B75... if sata slot is 4.
    • Q67 if sata slot is 6
    • Server chipset used if dual socket.
    • Also available for socket 1356 and LGA 2011 v1 and v2 (DDR3 & ecc support, due to IMC is on CPU)
  • Intel X99, likely to use...
    • C226 (desktop), C612 (server)
    • Refer to H81-B85... if SATA slot is 4.
    • Q87 if SATA slot is 6
    • Server chipset used if dual socket.
